dexter finale 712 'Dexter' moves to summer and more Showtime 2013 premiere datesShowtime is breaking up its two biggest shows, “Dexter” and “Homeland,” and using them both to launch new series later this year.

Season 8 of “Dexter” will premiere at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, June 30, moving away from its long-standing fall home. It will lead into the channel’s new drama “Ray Donovan,” starring Liev Schreiber as a Los Angeles fixer.

(Incidentally, Showtime head David Nevins says he’s not ready to announce whether Season 8 will be “Dexter’s” last, though he adds “there’s a clear endgame in place.”)

“Homeland,” meanwhile, will move up to 9 p.m. on Sundays starting Sept. 29. It will be followed by another new show, “Masters of Sex,” about sex researchers Masters and Johnson (Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan).

Other Showtime premiere dates for 2013:

“Shameless,” “House of Lies” and “Californication”: Jan. 13

“Inside Comedy”: Feb. 11

“Nurse Jackie” and “The Borgias”: April 14

“The Big C: Hereafter”: April 29
