Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant was arrested Monday (July 16) on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence stemming from an incident Saturday night. The arrest was first reported by Rebecca Lopez of WFAA-TV, a local Dallas station. She tweeted:
“Desoto police say Dez Bryant assaulted his mother. Slapped her across the face and pulled her hair. Dez Bryant’s mother says she had pain and swelling as a result of injuries according to a police report. Police report says Bryant’s mother had asked him to leave when he allegedly assaulted her.”
Lopez also tweeted the above photo of Bryant’s mugshot.
The Dallas Morning News adds that police say Bryant grabbed his mother by the t-shirt, causing it and her bra to tear. She says he then grabbed her by the hair and slapped her across the face with his ball cap.
Bryant was released on a $1,500 bond. His charges carry a maximum sentence of a year in jail and a $4,000 fine.
