Dianekeaton_290 Oscar winner Diane Keaton is taking a shot at a TV series, starring in and executive producing a comedy at HBO.

The show would feature Keaton as an old-guard feminist leader who tries to give new spark to the cause by starting a sexually frank women’s magazine. “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Private Practice” veteran Marti Noxon is writing the script.

Noxon tells The Hollywood Reporter that she’s been kicking around the idea for a show that speaks to feminist issues for some time. She and fellow exec producer Dawn Parouse Olmstead first hit on the idea of a young woman working for a porn magazine, then decided to make the lead character older.

“We’ve come a long way since the Kinsey report,” she says. “Women are more sexual now.”

The project marks Keaton’s first regular commitment to a TV series and her first series work of any kind since early in her career. She has starred in several TV movies, most recently the 2006 CBS film “Surrender Dororthy.”
