Since 1/3 of the country is currently blanketed by snow from one of the worst storms in recent history, everyone can breathe a sigh of relief — Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow today in Punxsutawney, PA, which means winter will supposedly be short this year.

Following the announcement, “Today” co-host Meredith Vieira exclaimed, “That’s good news!” as Matt Lauer cheekily held up a hastily hand-drawn sigh reading,”BULL.” Hee. We love Matt Lauer.

Are you covered in snow? We’ve got some pretty large drifts outside our windows, making it hard to believe that winter is going to be short this year. But fingers crossed!
