dr drew pinsky gi Dr. Drew defends 'Celebrity Rehab': 'It's progress, not perfection'A new season of “Celebrity Rehab” debuts Wednesday (Dec. 1) on VH1, which means a new group of celebs with addiction issues will be put through the wringer. And, inevitably, there will be some who rebel against the process.

]]>Dr. Drew Pinsky, who supervises the treatment on the show, says that while he always aims to help the celebrities under his care, he can’t lead them by hand to a sober life. “There’s no direct line to sobriety,” Pinsky tells Life & Style in this week’s issue. “For people in recovery, it’s progress, not perfection.” At least one former contestant begs to differ. “The show likes to f*** with you, basically,” says Kari Ann Peniche, who appeared on the show’s third season earlier this year. The magazine also notes some other rough times for past “Celebrity Rehab” patients — as well as some success stories. Be that as it may, Dr. Drew is confident that the new crop of “Rehab” patients — among them Janice Dickinson, Rachel Uchitel and Jeremy London — will leave the show as different people. “I think all our patients will tell you that ‘Celebrity Rehab’ was a life-changing experience for them,” he says.
