duck dynasty season 4 season 3 finale ratings ae 'Duck Dynasty' Season 4 on the way after record breaking Season 3 finale ratingsThe Season 3 finale of “Duck Dynasty” brought a record-breaking 9.6 million viewers to A&E Wednesday night (April 24). The hour-long episode, “Aloha, Robertsons!,” was watched by a new record 5.6 million adults in the 25-54 age group, 5.5 million adults 18-49 and 2.6 million adults 18-34.

The episode, which follows Willie Robertson, Uncle Si, and the rest of the gang on a Hawaiian vacation, garnered 34% more viewers than “American Idol,” the top-rated network show for the night.

Over the course of the season, “Duck Dynasty” averaged 8.4 million viewers, making it the top-rated reality show on cable, and the No. 2 series overall, behind AMC’s Walking Dead.” A&E says the season finale was also “the most social show on television Wednesday night,” beating out “Idol” and “Survivor” with the tweeting and Facebooking crowd.

The Duck Commander crew already held the title for the highest-rated telecast in A&E history with its Season 2 finale at 8.6 million viewers last February.

So, what does this mean for chances of a “Duck Dynasty” Season 4? The Robertsons were reportedly holding out for pay raises from the network, and this new record goes to show they deserve the bump. In a press release, A&E says “production will begin shortly on the fourth season,” which will premiere later in 2013.

That news is probably going to make a record number of viewers “happy, happy, happy.”
