“Dancing With the Stars” has hit week three, and we got a chance to chat with judge Carrie Ann Inaba about the competition thus far. Inaba says that the judges really stay out of the controversy during the show and they don’t read anything. “I know somebody had mentioned that they saw something with Kym (Johnson), Jaleel (White) and Mark (Ballas), but I don’t actually know what happened because I haven’t seen the story.”
She wasn’t aware that people have questioned whether or not opera singer Katherine Jenkins has had more dance training than the few tap classes she says she does, but she definitely had an opinion about it.
“Oh, from my eye I definitely say she’s had dance training,” she says. “It’s pretty obvious she’s had dance training. I think a lot of people who have been on our show have had dance training, but we can see that as judges. We can see that people have had training before. It’s pretty apparent, but they also have to make a journey if they want to win the show.”
Inaba says she loves underdogs. She definitely has one in mind this season. “I would say Gavin Degraw is the Rob Kardashian of this season. He’s got that element of true growth. He’s definitely growing as a person, and he’s growing as a performer, and he’s genuinely facing his own insecurities and fears, but in a very valiant way, and a very sort of up front way.”
“Dancing With the Stars” airs Monday night on ABC.
