Hasselbeck will join Fox News Channel’s morning show “Fox & Friends” in the fall. She’ll replace Gretchen Carlson, who is getting her own afternoon show on FNC.
The deal came together rather quickly: Hasselbeck’s final day on “The View” is Wednesday (July 10).
“Elisabeth’s warm and engaging personality made her a star on ‘The View.’ She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise,” Fox News CEO Roger Ailes tells Page Six, which broke the news of Hasselbeck’s departure.
Rumors of Hasselbeck leaving “The View” have swirled for months. Most of them, however, focused on the idea that she would be let go rather than jump to another job.
Joy Behar is also leaving the ABC show when her contract is up in August. Jenny McCarthy is reportedly a candidate to replace Behar, while Brooke Shields has been mentioned as taking over for Hasselbeck.
