Though a rep for ABC insists that Elisabeth Hasselbeck has a long-term contract with “The View,” it’s looking increasingly likely that the often controversial co-host will be leaving the show at the end of the current season. Hasselbeck has spent a decade with “The View,” and as the most politically conservative member of the panel, she often finds herself locking horns with her co-hosts.
Now, Showbiz411 reports that Hasselbeck may be replaced by model and actress Brooke Shields. Shields is a favorite of “The View” matriarch Barbara Walters, who considers her to be very articulate. 47-year-old Shields is a Princeton graduate, a mother, and a prominent figure in Hollywood — all pluses when it comes to hosting a morning show.
Rumor has it that because Joy Behar is exiting the show too, to work on her standup routine, producers will look for another host as well. They’re going to skew younger, looking for a host in her 30s — potentially someone with a journalism background.
