emmys 2014 best supporting actor drama nominees gi Emmys 2014: Who should win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama?

Will the winner of the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category at the 66th annual Primetime Emmy Awards come from “Breaking Bad” or “The Good Wife”? Or will the Emmy go to a dark horse? If it’s the former, Josh Charles may have the edge for his “Good Wife” swan song, even though Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman is a likely favorite as well.

Who else has a chance? Peter Dinklage’s Tyrion Lannister had an amazing season, but even “Game of Thrones” has to fight its way out of the genre pit if it wants more awards love. Dinklage’s previous award could either help or hurt him as well.

Jon Voight (“Ray Donovan”) and Mandy Patinkin (“Homeland”) shouldn’t be ignored either. Both actors have long histories of critical acclaim and strong seasons on their respective shows. Plus, the Emmys love to award movie actors like Voight.

The only real longshot in this particular race would have to be Jim Carter for “Downton Abbey.” While his Mr. Carson is a longtime favorite, this past season wasn’t the best to showcase the actor’s talents.
