Citing an “unanticipated resurgence of television miniseries and movies” the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Board of Governors voted to overturn a decision to consolidate the categories into just two — Outstanding Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries and Outstanding Actress in a Television Movie or Miniseries — instead of the customary four.

The move returns this year’s Emmy acting races back to the standard lead actor, lead actress, supporting actor and supporting actress competitions.

In addition to the previously mentioned titles, some of this year’s eligible movies and miniseries include Lifetime’s “Steel Magnolias” and “Call Me Crazy,” History’s “The Bible,” USA’s “Political Animals,” BBC America’s “The Hour,” National Geographic’s “Killing Lincoln” and HBO’s “Phil Spector,” “The Girl,” “Mary and Martha” and “Parade’s End.”
