erin brockovich arrested gi Erin Brockovich arrested near Las Vegas for drunk boating

Environmental activist Erin Brockovich was arrested at Lake Mead, outside Las Vegas, on suspicion of boating while intoxicated. Officials say Brockovich’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit of .08.
Edwin Lyngar, a spokesman for the Nevada Department of Wildlife, tells the Associated Press a game warden noticed Brockovich was failing miserably at her attempts to dock the boat she was driving at the Las Vegas Boat Harbor.
“She was not sure how to maneuver the boat into the dock,” Lyngar says of Brockovich. “It’s a simple thing if you can think clearly. But if you add alcohol and unfamiliarity of the area, it can all cause serious problems.”
But Brockovich tells a slightly different story. “At no time was the boat away from the dock and there was no public safety risk,” she says in a statement. “That being said, I take drunk driving very seriously, this was clearly a big mistake, I know better and I am very sorry … After a day in the sun and with nothing to eat it appears that a couple of drinks had a greater impact than I had realized.”
If this is Brockovich’s first offense, Nevada law dictates a fine between $1,000 and $2,000, but no jail time. Brockovich was booked into the from the Clark County Detention Center, then released after posting $1,000 bail.
Brockovich famously sued Pacific Gas & Electric for polluting the water supply in Hinkley, Calif. Julia Roberts won the Best Actress Academy Award for her portrayal of Brockovich in Steven Soderbergh‘s 2000 film “Erin Brockovich” that dramatized the story.
