We sure did — especially if you are measuring by tears and goosebumps.

Maybe the best line of the evening came from amnesiac Holly (Felicia Day), who perfectly captured what Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) means to the little town of Eureka:

“Oh! I remember now. You guys are smart, but the sheriff is the strong force — he holds it all together.”

In his last heroic act of the series, Carter dove through a wormhole to save the town. As he traveled through that space-time anomaly, we saw snippets of important characters (Stark, argh!) and pivotal scenes — including season one’s alternate timeline in which Allison was his wife and pregnant with their child.

After he saved Eureka for the gazillionth time, that happy reality finally came true again: Carter’s new bride Allison (Salli Richardson-Whitfield) revealed she was pregnant. (Tears!)

Of course, Carter wasn’t the only one who saved Eureka in the series finale. Town founder and timeline jumper Henry Grant (James Callis) rode in like a knight in a shining Bentley to announce he’d circumvented the government shutdown by purchasing Eureka himself.

With Fargo (Neil Grayston) stepping down to travel the world with his memory-restored girlfriend, Grant — er, Trent Rockwell — appointed Henry (Joe Morton) as the head of GD. And, thanks to Beverly Barlowe’s (Debrah Farentino) good deed (will wonders never cease?), he’ll be “changing the world” with his wife Grace (Tembi Locke) by his side.

Jo (Erica Cerra) and Zane (Niall Matter) are headed to the altar too! On bended knee, Jo re-created Zane’s original proposal in the jail (before her time-jump erased their relationship), and the outlaw and the enforcer became betrothed at last.

Other highlights: the return of Taggart (the incomparable Matt Frewer), still chasing after his “white whale,” the adorable stray dog Lowjack; the “fully gruntled” and fully naked Dr. Parrish (Wil Wheaton) stepping (via wormhole) from the steam room to Caf Diem and Vincent’s (Christopher Gauthier) admiration (“Mantastic!”); the not-so-subtle digs at the series’ abrupt cancellation and many, many more Easter eggs to delight devoted fans.

Now graduating summa cum laude from Harvard, the Zoe in the pilot was a juvenile delinquent whom her father, then a U.S. marshal, was transporting to L.A. They never made it there, of course, because a distracted Jack swerved to avoid a dog (Lowjack?) in the road.

Why was he distracted?

Because — just like the series’ last scene — they were passed in the opposite direction by…themselves.

Is there a better way to sign a love letter?

What did you think of the “Eureka” finale? What are you going to miss most about the show?
