everest jump live discovery asset 'Everest Jump Live': Joby Ogwyn to make wingsuit jump on Discovery Channel

Discovery Channel has figured out its next big stunt after last June’s “Skywire Live with Nik Wallenda.” A man will leap from the summit of Mount Everest in what the network is calling “one of the greatest human feats ever captured on television.”
In “Everest Jump Live,” wingsuit jumper Joby Ogwyn will climb Mount Everest before leaping off of it. As part of the special, Discovery will air two different one-hour pre-shows focused on the training Ogwyn will go through before the feat.
There will then be a two-hour live special, documenting the struggle of climbing Everest, before Ogwyn leaps from the summit in a custom wingsuit, outfitted with cameras to broadcast his descent.
“This will be the final piece of my dream,” Ogwyn says in a release from the network. He first reached the summit of Everest in 1999, before doing it again in 2008.
“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve imagined what it would be like to fly,” he adds. “I can’t think of a more spectacular backdrop than Everest.”
“Everest Jump Live” will air on Discovery in May.
