jake gyllenhaal getty small Fake Jake Gyllenhaal tweets Romney support, Drudge Report believes itWe think that if Jake Gyllenhaal was actually on Twitter, he’d have a few more than 11,000 followers. Twitter user @Jake_Gyllenhaal, who we’ve confirmed is not the actual actor, fooled The Drudge Report on Monday when he tweeted an endorsement for Romney.

“As a Democrat, I’ll say it now, I endorse Mitt Romney For President Of The United States #MyVoteIsMade,” the poser wrote. “If Obama Has All These Answers Of How To Save Our Country, Why Hasnt He Implemented These In The Last Four Years. Obama doesnt listen to Romney at all in any debate, Romney’s saying I dont believe that, yet Obama insists time and again he does #Stupdity”

Had the tweet come from the real Gyllenhaal, it would’ve certainly been news, particularly seeing as Gyllenhaal is an outspoken liberal. Unfortunately, a quick check with Gyllenhaal’s rep confirms that he does not tweet. The headline “Actor Jake Gyllenhaal endorses Romney” appeared on the Drudge Report home page on Monday evening, but was taken down shortly thereafter.

Call us crazy, but we’d like to think that the real Gyllenhaal would be a little less liberal — with his capitalization, that is. And that he wouldn’t spell “stupidity” wrong. Because that’s stupid.
