It’s not the return of “Firefly,” but Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk’s new project together could be a lot of fun.
The pair are crowdfunding a comedy web series called “Con Man,” all about life of the star of a former sci-fi TV show (Tudyk) who travels the comic-book convention circuit — sound familiar?
“‘Con Man’ delivers what convention All-Access passes have only promised in the past,” Tudyk says in a release. “I’ve been to conventions from San Diego to Dubai and I have so many great experiences to share through the world of ‘Con Man.'”
Fillion and Tudyk tease a couple of those experiences in the video above and introduce a few of the many guest stars they’ve lined up to appear, including Gina Torres, James Gunn, Seth Green and Felicia Day. The press release for the series notes Amy Acker has also signed on.
If you decide to support the campaign, there will be plenty of incentives for handing over your money. From signed photos and props to set visits, there’s plenty of treats for all levels of donating. Perhaps the best of all is the promise of a “GIF of Nathan and Alan doing a totally sweet hi-five.” That’ll only cost you $5.
The campaign’s initial goal is $425,000, which will fund the first three episodes of the series. Any money raised beyond that will go to pay for the remainder of the show. As of posting time, more than $140,000 has already been raised. The campaign will end at 11:59 p.m. PT on April 9.
