flloyd mayweather jr gi Floyd Mayweather to begin jail sentence June 1Floyd Mayweather Jr. is going to go from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in less than a month. The boxer, who won the junior middleweight title on May 5, will check into jail on Friday (June 1) the AP is reporting.

The three-month sentence follows a guilty plea from Mayweather for a 2010 attack on his ex-girlfriend Josie Harris. In addition to the sentence, Mayweather must also complete domestic violence counseling and 100 hours of community service as well as pay a $2,500 fine.

The multi-time champ was initially to begin his time behind bars Jan. 6, but he got a reprieve so that he could complete his obligations and fight Miguel Cotto. Mayweather, 35, earned $32 million for the bout.

The boxer will stay at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas. He will reportedly be held in a separate area of the lock up for his protection.
