breaking in mullally FOX cancels 'Breaking In' and 'Teenage Daughter'; President Obama to appear on 'The View'Bite-sized TV news, including a talk-host summit on “The Late Show with David Letterman” and HBO launching a newsmagazine show:

– This isn’t exactly a surprise, since both shows were taken off the schedule earlier this season, but FOX has officially canceled its comedies “Breaking In” and “I Hate My Teenage Daughter.” For “Breaking In,” it’s the second time the show has been canned — FOX dropped it last season too, then had a change of heart. President Obama will sit down with the hosts of “The View” for an interview airing Tuesday (May 15). He will be the featured guest on Tuesday’s episode, which will mark his fourth appearance and the second since he became president. [ABC]

– Good news for geeks. Or, umm, lovers of comic books and/or zombies. AMC has renewed both “Comic Book Men” and “Talking Dead” for second season runs. “Comic Book Men” is executive produced by Kevin Smith and chronicles the events that unfold in a New Jersey comic book store he owns. “Talking Dead” is the cable network’s only live offering — a weekly post-game show hosted by Chris Hardwick that dissects the network’s hit drama “The Walking Dead.” Both series will get a 16-episode Season 2 run. Conan O’Brien will be David Letterman‘s guest on “The Late Show” on May 17 — his first time on the show since 1999. Think maybe they’ll talk about Jay Leno a little bit? [CBS]

– HBO is teaming up with Vice Media for a newsmagazine show, also called “Vice.” The show will be executive produced by Bill Maher, Vice founder Shane Smith and Eddy Moretti, with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria serving as a consultant. [HBO]

– FX has set a premiere date for its late-night series “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.” The half-hour show starring comedian W. Kamau Bell and executive produced by Chris Rock will debut at 11 p.m. ET Aug. 9, following the six-week run of Russell Brand’s “Brand X.” [FX]
