megyn kelly fox news kelly file birthday gi Fox News host Megyn Kelly fires back after 'Santa is white' backlashFox News host Megyn Kelly made headlines this week for stating confidently on air that it’s a concrete fact Santa Claus was a white man. Now, after being mocked on “The Daily Show” and discussed on countless news programs, Kelly is firing back at her critics.

She said during her show “The Kelly File” that there’s no fact behind Santa Claus being anything other than a white man, prompting hosts like Jon Stewart to wonder what, exactly, Kelly was thinking. “Who are you actually talking to?” he asked on his Comedy Central show. “Children who are sophisticated enough to be watching a news channel at 10 o’clock at night, yet innocent enough to still believe Santa Claus is real, yet racist enough to be freaked out if he isn’t white? … Yes, West Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.”

On Friday’s (Dec. 13) installment of “The Kelly File,” however she stood her ground. “I was simply arguing that the image is of a white Santa,” Kelly said, bringing up films like “Miracle on 34th Street” as examples of Santa in popular culture.. “I think some people who like to hate on Fox News and me projected some unfortunate motives. Fox News and yours truly are big targets for many people.”

She’s not a racist, she argued, saying her critics were having a “kneejerk reaction to race bait,” Yahoo News recounts, and that “this wasn’t motivated by any racial fear.”

However, she did concede on another point, having also said that Jesus Christ was a white man. “As I’ve learned in the past two days, that is far from settled,” Kelly said.
