Now that FOX has set into motion a Stateside remake of the hit U.K. drama “Broadchurch,” with original star David Tennant attached as the lead, it seems the network hopes to set its version apart with a name change.
While the network hasn’t confirmed anything, Production Weekly, a comprehensive film and TV production tracking database tweeted on Monday (Oct. 28) that the remake is now titled “Gracepoint.”
Production on the 10-episode limited series will begin in late January 2014. Chris Chibnall, the creator of the original series, will write the first episode of FOX’s remake. Dan Futterman and Anya Epstein are attached as executive producers and showrunners.
The series follows the murder investigation of a young boy in a small town, with FOX’s version taking place in America.
Do you think it’s wise for FOX to change the name for their remake?
