“The Nanny” star Fran Drescher tells Zap2it the time is right for her new talk show premiering on select FOX networks on Nov. 26.
That doesn’t mean there haven’t been other opportunities to come back to TV. In fact, she has been approached to join the No. 1 show on television, “Dancing with the Stars,” but the activist and actress tells us that the price wasn’t right.
“I’ve been asked [to do] ‘Dancing With The Stars’ in the past,” Drescher tells us. “But it’s too much of a commitment and not enough money. I have too many things going on. I watch it, but I don’t really need to do it. It’s just too time consuming.”
The new talk show host tells us that we’re not the first to tell her she’d rock those bedazzled costumes and probably has quite the dancing ability.
“Well, who knows? Maybe I’d last for a while,” she says. “I don’t know if I’d win, but I think I could certainly learn the waltz. But the thing is even if you get knocked off the first show you’re kind of obligated to participate.”
Drescher, who tells us her hit sitcom, “The Nanny,” has never gone off the air since its original run ended in 1999, explains what keeps her from strapping on some dancing shoes.
“I’m just too busy,” Drescher explains. “I’m in Washington lobbying and I’m a public speaker. I just finished writing a sitcom script for TV Land that I would be in, as well. I have a children’s book that’s coming out. I have another adult book in my head that I don’t even have enough time to write.”
Do you think Fran should reconsider and get in on some of them sequins?
“The Fran Drescher Show” premieres on FOX stations in Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Orlando on Nov. 26.
