zach-galifiankis-FX-pilot-getty.jpgFX has ordered a comedy series pilot created by and starring Zach Galifianakis, with Emmy-winning actor/comedian Louis C.K. as co-writer, it was announced Tuesday (Jan. 14) at the 2015 TCA press tour.

The Galifianakis pilot is the first production under the deal between FX Productions and Louis C.K.’s production company Pig Newton, which was announced in early December.

Galifianakis and C.K. will also serve as executive producers, alongside Blair Breard (“Louie”), Dave Becky (“Bored to Death”) Andrea Pett-Joseph and Marc Gurvitz.

FX has also announced the FXNOW app, which will provide subscribers of participating MVPDs (multichannel video programming distributors) access to the FX suite of channels at anytime, anywhere through the internet or on mobile devices.

The “TV Everywhere” app will carry FX, FXX and FXM, which means every original series FX Productions produces plus an extensive library of contemporary feature films will be available to users. In addition, all 24 complete seasons of “The Simpsons” and all subsequent new seasons will be available on FXNOW. The long-running FOX animated series will be available on FXNOW beginning in March 2014.
As of this announcement, FXNOW will be available to approximately 50 percent of FX subscribers nationwide. The MVPDs that are so far on board include AT&T, U-verse, Cablevision’s Optimum TV, Comcast, Suddenlink and WOW!, along with many other providers and other MVPDs scheduled for next year.
