game of thrones kings landing hbo 'Game of Thrones' King's Landing to be created for DVD release

HBO is going big for the “Game of Thrones” Season 3 DVD release. The network is reportedly changing the name of a British town to promote the upcoming home video launch.

Radio Times has learned that the town of Kings Langley will change its name to King’s Landing for one week in February to coincide with the Season 3 DVD launch. A producer on “Game of Thrones” reportedly heard the similarly-named town at a train stop while waiting in London’s Euston station and decided to instigate the name change.

It’s unclear if the town will be graced with the Iron Throne, the skeletons of the Targaryen dragons or the Great Sept to help complete the transformation to King’s Landing, but it seems doubtful. Here’s hoping that all the trouble currently taking place in capital of Westeros on “Game of Thrones” doesn’t befall Kings Langley as well.

“Game of Thrones” Season 4 returns to HBO in Spring 2014.
