American people, rest easy: HBO has removed George W. Bush’s decapitated head from a spike in its “Game of Thrones” Season 1 finale and replaced it with a new, less recognizable head.
If you’re confused, let us refresh your memories. In February, the “Game of Thrones” Season 1 DVD was released. It included commentary from the creators, casually mentioning that one of the decapitated heads on a spike was actually a fake George W. Bush head. “It’s not a choice, it’s not a political
statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around,” they said.
A whopping four months later, someone in the media finally listened to the commentary and reported on it. Cue firestorm!
The finale is available again now, but you won’t be spotting any presidential features on the spikes this time, as the Washington Post pointed out. Thanks to a little digital alteration, the head in question no longer resembles Bush. In fact, thanks to an extremely weak chin and odd nose, it barely even looks human.
With all due respect to our former president — if we were him, we’d be pretty psyched to be in a “Game of Thrones” episode at all. With or without a torso attached.
