Finally, George Michael — one half of ’80s semi-super-Group Wham and a guy who had a respectable solo career with, like, supermodels in his videos until things kind of crumbled for him in the ’90s — has finally announced his intention to mount a come back.
And we are thankful. Not only because “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go” was a junior high anthem, but because we totally cut bangs in our hair because of the “Father Figure” video.
“I’m going to make up for some of the damage I have inadvertently caused,” says Michael in an interview with the BBC.
Which, we can only assume means he’ll use proceeds from ticket sales to repair the Range Rover he crashed in 2010 while reportedly under the influence of marijuana.
Sadly, Michael’s tour is — so far — confined to Europe. He’ll play 47 concert dates accompanied by a symphony orchestra. Which totally makes sense since he’s calling the tour “Symphonica: The Orchestral Tour.”
The tour will see Michael perform “a carefully chosen selection of his songs” as well as “some of his favorite songs from other artists,” according to the BBC.
