George Zimmerman was released from jail Sunday (April 23) night after posting his $150,000 bond, reports CNN.
Bail was set by Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester during a hearing Friday, at which Zimmerman also apologized to 17-year-old Trayvon Martin’s parents for their son’s death.
“I wanted to say I am sorry for the loss of your son. I did not know how old he was. I thought he was a little bit younger than I am. I did not know if he was armed or not,” Zimmerman, 28, said.
As part of the terms of his release, the judge ruled that Zimmerman can’t have any firearms, drink alcohol or use illegal drugs, and must adhere to a curfew.
Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder for shooting the Florida teen on Feb. 26. A former neighborhood watch volunteer, Zimmerman claims he acted in self-defense.
