According to the new key art for “Girls” Season 4, there’s “nowhere to grow but up,” which is good news for Hannah Horvath, Marnie Michaels, Jessa Johansson and Shoshanna Shapiro since they all have a tendency to head in the other direction.
The above photo is HBO’s most recent preview of the upcoming season of the show about four 20 year olds just, you know, figuring out life by failing at it. From the looks in their eyes, things seem like they’re going to be a little daunting, hopeful and confusing for the four
women girls. Of course, that all makes sense considering the trailer for Season 4 shows Shoshanna struggling to find a job, Hannah attempting to fit in in Iowa, Jessa getting handcuffed and Marnie still trying to sing.
The only thing that doesn’t make complete sense is what exactly the four of them are staring at in the poster. Are they looking at their bright and sparkly futures? Adam flying a plane with a banner whipping behind it that reads, “I love you Hannah”? A cat stuck in a tree? Or are they all just blatantly ignoring Ray while he’s trying to teach them a lesson about life? Honestly, it could be any of those things. It could also be that they’re all just thinking about themselves.
Check out the below re-designed (and annotated) “Girls” poster that takes a guess at what Hannah, Shoshanna, Jessa and Marnie could possibly be thinking about.
“Girls” returns to HBO on Sunday, Jan. 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
