This is sad news for us “Glee” fans, but we suppose that those Gleeks can’t stay young forever. Ryan Murphy spoke with Ryan Seacrest on Friday morning and not only announced his engagement to an unknown mystery man, but also mentioned that the “Glee” cast would be undergoing some major renovations in coming years.
As the New Directions kids, like Rachel (Lea Michele), Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Quinn (Dianna Agron) graduate – which they will – we won’t suddenly see “Glee: The College Years.” Instead, they’ll be replaced by a freshman class of new talent.
“We’ve got Matt Morrison and Jane Lynch who will stay and be the male and
female linchpins of the series, but I think the fun thing about the
show is it’s a celebration of youth and talent,” Murphy says. “I think that just
like with the original cast, I think finding those young unknown people
and giving them an opportunity to break into the business and become
stars is a really fun and exciting thing and is the spirit of the
Murphy would prefer not to think of it as a negative thing. “I don’t think of it in terms of eliminating or replacing,” he says, “because I
think the thing about this cast is people love them and they are
incredibly talented. They’ve left sort of an indelible mark.”
