happy duet glee 'Glee': Rachel and Kurt's homage to Barbra Streisand, Judy GarlandThe excellent “Duets” episode of “Glee” ended with a heartbreakingly beautiful duet between Lea Michele and Chris Colfer on “Happy Days Are Here Again”/”Get Happy.” It was an amazing end to a strong episode.

But did you know it was an homage to a duet done first almost 50 years ago?

On an episode of the 1960s “Judy Garland Show,” songbirds Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland sang a beautiful original rendition of the duet (video below). The episode aired Oct. 4, 1963 and earned Streisand an Emmy nomination.

On “Glee,” Rachel and Kurt paid a wonderful homage to the legendary singer — right down to Rachel’s sailor suit and Kurt’s shiny duds. What do you think, Gleeks? Did they do Judy and Babs proud?
