“Glee” Season 4 will see the departure of many favorite McKinley High glee club members — though most will be back in some capacity — but it’ll also introduce a few new characters. Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker will play mentors to Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer), respectively, as they embark on their new lives in New York City. But what will their characters be like?
TV Guide has the deets on their roles. It turns out that Hudson will play Rachel’s dance instructor at NYADA — and they won’t get along.
“Dance is not Rachel’s strong point, but as a freshman it’s a requirement class she has to take,” Lea Michele tells TV Guide. “It will put Rachel in a very vulnerable place, stuck with a teacher who doesn’t make it easy for her.”
Kurt will still not be heading to NYADA — there will be no flip-flopping on their admission decision over the summer — but he’ll head to the Big Apple regardless, where he’ll encounter Parker’s character.
“He will find himself in an establishment where Sarah Jessica Parker is his manager of sorts, but not in a performance sense,” Chris Colfer says.
Intriguing. Also intriguing: That Michele says Parker will give Rachel a makeover, hinting at a fashion world connection — perfect Plan B for Kurt.
Meanwhile, based on Cory Monteith‘s summer workout schedule — “CrossFit and fewer Snickers bars,” he says — it looks like Finn is getting ready to join the Army.
Parker and Hudson won’t be the only new characters in Season 4. The show is currently casting several new McKinley High students, and is also reportedly courting “American Idol” runner-up Jessica Sanchez for a recurring role.
