“Glee‘s” McKinley High doesn’t exactly have a shortage of geeks, but Jacob Ben Israel (Josh Sussman) is arguably the nerdiest nerd of all. Zap2it caught up with Sussman at the Young Hollywood Awards on May 13 to discuss Jacob’s future on the show.
“On ‘Glee’ I want to sing ‘You Are My Sunshine,’ and I want to sing it to Rachel,” Sussman tells us. As for whether he thinks there will ever be a chance for Rachel (Lea Michele) and Jacob, Sussman says, “There has to be! I’m so good to her, minus the blackmail.”
Sussman didn’t have a chance to work with much-anticipated guest star Neil Patrick Harris, but they did have an encounter in the men’s room at the Golden Globes. “He comes up, I’m washing my hands, and he’s like ‘Hey! I’m Neil! I just want to tell you I love the show and think your character’s so funny!’ And I’m looking at this guy who says his name’s Neil and I’m like ‘This Neil guy is Neil Patrick Harris! And he knows who I am?’ It blew my mind!”
As flattered as he is by the attention, Sussman seems more interested in talking to NPH’s “How I Met Your Mother” co-star, Jason Segel, who is writing the latest Muppets movie. “I know they’re doing a new Muppet movie. I grew up watching them; I’d love to work with Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo… Jason, if you’re watching this, sir, Jason Segel, I love the Muppets! I want to be on the new Muppet movie!”
