Golden-Nugget.jpgA two-alarm fire broke out at the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on Thursday, March 15. A man in distress found in a locked room on the 22nd floor raised the suspicions of investigators and they’re calling it intentional.

The as yet unidentified man was found in critical condition amidst a pile of smoldering linens, according to AP via Yahoo. “They couldn’t see a thing in the room. Smoke was that thick,” fire spokesperson Tim Szymanski says.

The fire only cause about $1000 worth of damage and was put out entirely by the building’s sprinklers. No fire hoses were used. They evacuated some hotel residents, but fear not. None of the gambling on the ground floor was interrupted.

“I looked up and saw smoke coming out,” said eye witness Rudy Boteo, who took cellphone pictures at the scene. “Then I
looked down and saw them bring this guy out.” This is the second fire in seven weeks at the casino.
