“The Good Wife” is in for a major shake-up on Sunday, Oct. 27 with the episode “Hitting the Fan.” Executive producer Robert King teases for Zap2it that it’s about to send the show off in a completely new direction.

“It felt like there were some milestones for the year, this won’t be the only one. … We’re all very proud of the episode and what it does to the show itself,” says King. “We’re trying to see chapters in Alicia’s life, the way it sets you off in new directions.”

In the episode, as seen in the above preview, Will and Diane have figured out what is going on and Will is not taking it well. King says that there’s only so long you can play out a love triangle on a show, so it was time for something new in regards for the Alicia-Will relationship.

“How do you create explosions that make sense within that world and make interesting and entertaining things happen for the future?” says King. “Once you have this love triangle, it’s kind of a monkey on your back. There’s only so many ways to tell that story afresh. It was more interesting to see the reverse side of that, to throw a bomb into the relationship. … It felt like a restart on what these actors could do.”

But “Good Wife” fans should not be worried. In fact, they should be excited about this whole new chapter starting for the show.

“We were worried this show would announce it was the end of something, but it really kind of sprouts this new excitement,” says King.

“The Good Wife” “Hitting the Fan” airs Sunday, Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. You don’t want to miss a single second.
