Julianna Margulies of “The Good Wife” is gracing the cover of Vanity Fair’s annual television issue. In the above behind-the-scenes video, she talks about when she knew “The Good Wife” was a hit and how she wasn’t really allowed to watch TV growing up.

“After the first official season [of ‘The Good Wife’], I realized that we were gonna go for a few more,” says Margulies. “After the first six episodes, we started realizing people were actually watching. and the critical acclaim started coming in, but you never know if it’s a hit.”

“I wasn’t allowed to watch much television growing up. One year, we had a TV in our house and we were allowed to choose between ‘The Waltons’ and ‘Little House on the Prairie.’ I chose ‘The Waltons,’ that was my favorite show,” she continues.

“The last time I watched an episode of ‘ER,’ oh my goodness. A full-on episode was probably the last episode I did, where George Clooney comes, or I go to him, and we ride off into the sunset together … oh no, I’m sorry, then we both came back for a reunion and I watched that episode,” says Margulies.

“The Good Wife” airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
