henry hill ray liotta goodfellas 'Goodfellas' Henry Hill dies at 69Henry Hill, the former mobster whose life was the basis for the movie “Goodfellas,” has passed away at the age of 69 in a Los Angeles-area hospital after a long battle with an undisclosed illness, his girlfriend Lisa tells Reuters.

“He had been sick for a long time … his heart gave out,” she says. Hill leaves behind two children, Gregg and Gina, both in their mid-40s, from his marriage to wife Karen. Hill and his children were estranged for much of their adult lives, as the kids held much resentment over the criminal dealings of their father and the subsequent move into witness protection after he made a deal with the government in 1980. But girlfriend Lisa says Hill had made tremendous progress mending his relationship with them in recent years.

Hill’s mob activities and turning State’s witness were the subject of Martin Scorsese’s 1990 Oscar-winning film “Goodfellas,” in which Hill was famously played by actor Ray Liotta. The two are pictured together here, courtesy of Henry Hill’s website.
