“Gossip Girl” wrapped its season last night, but star Chace Crawford has a busy summer of work ahead of him, as he’s reportedly just landed the lead role of Ren McCormack in Paramount’s “Footloose” remake.
According to Us Weekly, the studio confirmed Crawford’s casting earlier today, though the official announcement won’t come until tomorrow morning.
The role of Ren — originally portrayed by Kevin Bacon, of course — was first offered to “High School Musical” star Zac Efron who passed on the project because he’s hoping to branch out of the singing/dancing genre.
Which, speaking of, I guess this means we’re gonna see Nate Archibald channeling his inner “So You Think You Can Dance” champion?
Does the boy have skills?
Oh, and sidenote, according to E! Online, Miley Cyrus is now in contention for the Ariel Moore leading lady role, though her schedule is seemingly booked solid. Other actresses interested? Hayden Panettiere and Amanda Bynes. “Dancing with the Stars” champ Julianne Hough has also auditioned.
I can’t really see any of these girls in the part. Other ideas?
