kings of leon governors ball tropical storm andrea gi Governors Ball: Kings of Leon rained out by Tropical Storm Andrea

Kings of Leon will play the Governors Ball festival in New York Saturday (June 8) after being rained out of their headlining slot the night prior. Drummer Nathan Followill tweeted the news that the band would play a rare pre-sundown set.
“Looks like I get 2 melt your faces after all,” Followill writes.  He later adds, “To say that I’m excited about tonight would be an understatement. First time in a long time that I’ll see the sunshine while I’m playing … Hell, I might even show a little more skin than normal. Beer me!”
Followill hasthagged that tweet, “#underweardrumming.” Yeah, buddy.
Kings of Leon kicked off a string of summer festival dates with a performance at the BottleRock Napa Valley festival in Napa, Calif. last month, where they debuted a new song, “Always the Same.”

Unlike BottleRock, which had attendees and performers like “Dad is Fat” author Jim Gaffigan frustrated by delays and disorganization — Gaffigan tweeted that organizers delayed his set, then forgot to pick him up for the airport — the folks at the Gov Ball NYC went out of their way to do right by festivalgoers by honoring Friday’s single-day tickets again on Saturday. Kings frontman Jared Followill tweeted, “What about people with Friday only tickets? Friday tickets will get you in today too!!”
KoL is set to release their sixth studio album, “Mechanical Bull” Sept. 24. The first single will reportedly be “Super Soaker” — no reference intended to the festival situation, obviously.
