glen campbell wife getty Grammys 2012: Glen Campbell 'flattered' by his Lifetime Achievement AwardCountry legend Glen Campbell is receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2012 Grammy Awards, in addition to performing with Blake Shelton and the Band Perry. He revealed last June that he is suffering from Alzheimer’s and this will be his first live television performance since he shared the news with his fans. Campbell has received five Grammys over the course of his career.

Campbell tells CNN of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, “I am flattered. I really am. All I wanted to do ever since I could remember was play my guitar and sing.”

When asked if he’s nervous about the performance, Campbell says, “I realize you are going to make mistakes through life. Just don’t make any bad ones, you know. Like all of my records are perfect records, but I did make mistakes on them. I would rather do live than any kind of lip-synching or something like that. I don’t like to lip-synch.”

Shelton says of the performance, “Opening for him is way different than getting up there and actually performing with him. This is going to be one of those things that I look back at when my career is over one of these days and I point to this as one of the coolest things I’ve gotten to do.”

We’re looking forward to it.
