greg kelly gi Greg Kelly of 'Good Day New York' accused of rape, 'strenuously denies' allegationGreg Kelly, a co-anchor of the “Good Day New York” morning show and the son of New York’s police commissioner, has been accused of rape.

No charges have been filed in the case, and through his lawyer Kelly “strenuously denies” the allegation that he sexually assaulted a woman last fall. Kelly was absent from “Good Day New York,” which airs on the city’s FOX affiliate, on Thursday (Jan. 26); the show covered the story but didn’t say if that was the reason Kelly was out.

Outside New York, Kelly is probably best known as a frequent subject of jokes on E!’s “The Soup.” The 43-year-old is the son of Raymond Kelly, New York City’s police commissioner. Because of Greg Kelly’s family ties to the department, the NYPD turned over investigation of the case to the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

According to the New York Times, the woman filed a complaint with police on Tuesday, although the alleged incident occurred on Oct. 8. The woman claims she met Kelly on the street and they had drinks together, then went to her office at a law firm in Lower Manhattan, where she says Kelly raped her.

The woman’s boyfriend reportedly confronted Raymond Kelly at a recent event, and the commissioner asked the man to send him a letter detailing the allegations. An NYPD spokesman tells the Daily News he’s not sure if such a letter ever arrived.

“Mr. Kelly is aware that the New York County District Attorney’s office is conducting an investigation,” Kelly’s lawyer, Andrew Lankler, says in a statement. “Mr. Kelly strenuously denies any wrongdoing of any kind, and is cooperating fully with the district attorney’s investigation. We know the district attorney’s investigation will prove Mr. Kelly’s innocence.”
