TV’s current serial killer craze is about to welcome one of the big boys to the club with the April 4 debut of NBC’s Hannibal Lecter series “Hannibal.”
The two-minute international trailer above gives us the most in-depth look yet at the weekly drama from executive producer Bryan Fuller (“Pushing Daisies”) starring Mads Mikkelsen as the iconic madman and Hugh Dancy as his FBI profiler rival Will Graham.
Lecter and Graham’s story has been adapted twice for the big screen — in 1986’s “Manhunter” and 2002’s “Red Dragon” — but Hannibal the cannibal has never before been the subject on a full-blown series. From the trailer, the show looks pretty intense and graphic by network TV standards.
With fierce competition from FOX’s “The Following” and A&E’s “Bates Motel” (not to mention Showtime’s ongoing “Dexter”), will audiences have room in their schedules (and their stomachs) for another serial killer series?
