Before there was “Shaun of the Dead,” there was “Spaced.”

Though Edgar Wright is now big leagues and directing one of the upcoming Marvel movies, “Ant-Man,” he got his big break teaming up with Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson to helm the 1999 Channel 4 sitcom “Spaced.” The series went on to have two seasons and solidified the bromance working relationship between Pegg, Nick Frost and Wright.
Wright was only 24 when he took the job, which was before he fully launched into his movie career with “Shaun of the Dead,” “Hot Fuzz,” “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” and “The World’s End.” In honor of his 40th birthday (April 18), here’s a look back at the best of “Spaced.” Happy birthday, Edgar!
