kaley cuoco birthday 28 gi Happy birthday, Kaley Cuoco: Check out 5 pre 'Big Bang Theory' rolesIt’s a big day for one of the stars of “The Big Bang Theory,” as Kaley Cuoco turns 28 on Saturday (Nov. 30). In honor of the CBS sitcom star’s special day, we thought we’d take a look back at five moments in Cuoco’s career before she hit it big with those nerds across the hall.

In one of Cuoco’s earliest TV moments, the actress appeared in the fourth episode of the cult ABC drama “My So-Called Life,” guest-starring as the younger version of Angela Chase (Claire Danes) in flashbacks. Take a glance at Cuoco circa 1994.

Two years later, Cuoco would pop up in another ABC series, guest-starring in a Season 4 episode of “Ellen,” doing some more flashback duty, playing Ellen DeGeneres in a look back at her character Ellen Morgan’s summer camp days.

Fast forward four more years to 2000, when Cuoco appeared in the NBC made-for-TV movie “Growing Up Brady,” based on Barry Williams‘ autobiography about his years on “The Brady Brunch.” Cuoco starred as Marcia Brady herself, Maureen McCormick. Added bonus: That’s a young, pre-“O.C” Adam Brody playing Williams!

Just two years later, Cuoco would land her first series regular role on ABC’s “8 Simple Rules” as Bridget Hennessy, the eldest daughter of John Ritter and Katey Sagal. The show famously suffered a tragedy when Ritter passed away suddenly three episodes into Season 2. After a creative re-tooling of the show, which incorporated the death of Ritter’s character, allowed it continue onto a third season, it was canceled thereafter.

In 2005, Cuoco joined the final season of “Charmed” as Billie Jenkins, a young witch the Halliwell sisters help train. The show was canceled in 2006, but Cuoco would only have to wait one more year to hit it big on CBS.

Which of Cuoco’s earlier roles surprises you most?
