Syfy has picked up a third season of its drama series “Haven,” the channel announced Wednesday (Oct. 12).
The show’s second season, which wrapped up Sept. 30, showed some ratings growth this year, averaging 2.55 million total viewers (up 4 percent over Season 1) and just under a million viewers in the adults 18-49 demographic (a 5-percent improvement). Season 3 will debut sometime next year.
“The superb cast, led by Emily Rose, Eric Balfour and Lucas Bryant, along with the terrific production team, delivered a successful season in both critical acclaim and rising viewership,” Syfy head of original content Mark Stern says. “We”e very excited to see this compelling series return for a third season of supernatural intrigue in 2012.”
“Haven” will air a stand-alone holiday episode on Dec. 6 in which Audrey (Rose) starts seeing Christmas decorations pop up in town in the middle of July, followed by townspeople disappearing into thin air. The episode won’t, however, resolve the cliffhanger from the end of Season 2; fans will have to wait until next year for that.
