Jake Caputo launched TakeMyMoneyHBO.com in 2012, and now the network is coming to collect — with an added “Sopranos” surprise.
Caputo started the website as a campaign to show HBO just how much consumers would pay for a standalone streaming service to watch popular shows like “Game of Thrones” and “Veep.” He collected tweets from around the Internet with people pledging how much they’d pay for such a service.
On April 7, HBO launched HBONow — basically exactly what Caputo and other users were asking for — and now they’re sending some muscle to collect on those tweeted promises. Big P***y (Vincent Pastore) and Pauli Walnuts (Tony Sirico) are making the rounds to make sure people pay up — starting with Caputo.
Luckily HBO has settled on the price of $14.99 a month, so it might be best to sign up before the muscle shows up. You can start with a free trial by clicking here.
