heads up tv show ellen 'Heads Up,' literally: Ellen's popular game is getting its own show

CNN’s Headline News channel is teaming up with Ellen DeGeneres to launch a television show based on her popular Heads Up game.
The new game show will be hosted by “The Real” talk show co-host Loni Love. It has an order of 65 half-hour episodes and will premiere in early 2016.
In the “Heads Up” television show, “Contestants pair up with a celebrity and try to correctly identify as many cards as they can based on clues from their teammate in categories ranging from movies and songs to actions, accents, body parts and more,” according to a press release.
If you’ve played the game on your phone you know the television show sounds very similar. The concept, which is also similar to the popular game Password, first appeared on Ellen’s show before being turned into an app for iOS and Android.
Said Ellen about today’s news, “I’m so excited that Heads Up! is going to be a game show. It’s so fun and addictive. I play it on my show all the time. I play it at home. I played it last night at Jennifer Aniston’s house. She wasn’t home, so please don’t print that part.”

The game is a lot of fun to play with friends, but it’s hard to say if Ellen and her team can make it as fun to watch on a daily basis without participating.
For a sample of the fun, here’s Ellen playing the game on her talk show with Maroon 5’s Adam Levine:
*Have you been to a theme park in the past year and waited in a line? It’s impossible to not spot several groups of people playing the game while waiting to get on a ride.
