Jennifer Mee, who gained national attention a few years ago for a weeks-long case of the hiccups, is back in the news for a far different reason: She’s been charged with murder.
Mee, 19, and two men have been charged with first degree homicide in the killing of a man in St. Petersburg, Fla., on Saturday (Oct. 23), the AP reports. Police say Mee — whose hiccups landed her on the “Today” show in 2007 — lured 22-year-old Shannon Griffin to a house where Laron Raiford, 20, and Lamont Newton, 22, robbed him. Griffin was then shot after a struggle and died from his wounds.
Mee, Newton (who Mee’s father says is her boyfriend) and Raiford are all cooperating in the investigation, police say.
