holden caulfield lolita Holden Caulfield, Lolita and more get Literary MixtapesA delightful site called Flavor Wire has come up with the rather ingenious idea of creating mixtapes for all the classic literary characters. Their most recent one is Lolita, from Vladimir Nabokov‘s classic novel. Her greatest hits include “Bad Reputation” and “My Boyfriend’s Back.”

But a wonderful one they did was for Holden Caulfield from J.D. Salinger‘s “The Catcher in the Rye.” His mixtape includes “Mad World,” “Sing, Sing, Sing” and “The State I Am In.” The site has also done Tintin and Humbert Humbert.

We’re already formulating ones for more favorite characters:

Hermione Granger: “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” “Witchy Woman”

Laurie Lawrence: “Sisters,” “Can’t Fight This Feeling”

Raskolnikov: “Getting Away With Murder,” “The Perfect Crime #2.”

What are some that pop into your head?
