homeland s3 premiere ratings 'Homeland' premiere scores solid ratings; 'Justified' adds Michael RapaportThe “Breaking Bad” series finale was the big ratings story on cable Sunday night (Sept. 29), but it wasn’t the only show drawing strong numbers.

The Season 3 premiere of “Homeland” delivered 1.9 million viewers for Showtime, making it the best of the show’s season debuts to date. It was up a little over last season’s opener and not far off the show’s biggest audience ever (2.3 million for last season’s penultimate episode. Sunday’s episode was also the first to air without a “Dexter” lead-in.

Following “Homeland,” the series premiere of “Masters of Sex” delivered 1 million viewers — in line with what “Homeland” drew for its premiere in 2011.

“Justified” has found a new adversary for Raylan (Timothy Olyphant). Michael Rapaport will recur in Season 5 of the FX series as Dale Crowe Jr., the head of a Florida crime family. And yep, he’s related to Dewey Crowe (Damon Herriman). [TVLine]

– Hallmark has renewed its first scripted series, “Cedar Cove.” The small-town drama starring Andie MacDowell has pulled solid numbers for the cable channel and will go back into production early next year.

– CNN has picked up a third season of “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.” The documentary series, which won two Primetime Emmys this year, will return with eight new episodes in the spring.

– ABC and “Twilight” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg have joined forces for “Clandestine,” a pilot project about an unlikely CIA recruit — the party-girl daughter of the American ambassador to the U.K. Rosenberg will executive produce, and Matthew Sand will write it. [Deadline]

– The Food Network has set a premiere date “Food Network Star” winner Damaris Phillips’ show. “Southern at Heart,” which posits that the way to people’s hearts is through their stomachs, will premiere Sunday, Oct. 27.
