homeland masters of sex finale ratings showtime 'Homeland' Season 3 finale death delivers series high ratings

“Homeland” ended its third season with a bang, not just in regards to a death of one of its major characters but also in the ratings.

Showtime says the Season 3 finale, “The Star,” was the series’ most-watched episode, as well as being the first of the network’s shows to average 7 million weekly viewers. All told, “The Star” brought in 2.4 million viewers at 9 p.m. and 2.9 million viewers for the night.

This meant that “Homeland’s” viewership was up considerably from its Season 3 premiere, which brought in 1.88 million viewers. The previous series-high for the show was Season 3 episode 6, “Still Positive,” which drew 2.75 million viewers the night that it aired.

Also closing out the season with a great night was critical darling “Masters of Sex.” Hot off its Writers Guild Awards and Golden Globes nominations and AFI Top 10 TV place of honor, the freshman drama had its season-best night. Showtime says the series finished Season 1 up 21 percent versus its premiere with 1.2 million viewers during its 10 p.m showing and a total of 1.5 million viewers for the night.
