homeland season 3 israel syria 'Homeland' Season 3 stops shooting in Israel amid Syria debate

“Homeland” is ditching plans to film in Israel amid the difficult situation taking place in Syria. Some of Season 3 was slated to film in Tel Aviv, but producers on the Showtime series have switched the shooting location to Morocco as tensions rise in the Middle East.

This news was first revealed by Ynet and was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. This wouldn’t have been the first time “Homeland” filmed in Israel, as parts of both Season 1 and 2 filmed in Tel Aviv and the small town of Barta’a. The connection to Israel makes sense, as “Homeland” is based on Gideon Raff‘s Israeli show “Prisoners of War.”

“Homeland” co-showrunner Howard Gordon is also shooting his Fox 21 pilot “Tyrant” in Morocco, so this will be familiar territory for him. “Homeland” Season 3 premieres on Showtime on Sept. 29.
